"Inspirations in a River Town" - Rabecca Hennessey
July 1 - July 22, 2022

Exhibition Description:

The historic and scenic river town where Rabecca Hennessey resides along the Mississippi River, nestled in the rolling bluffs in Northeast Iowa's driftless region, is the muse behind many of her paintings. She is inspired to paint the iconic Midwest farm scenes along this region, the reflections of the river water, and the slow pace of small town living.

Artist Biography:

Rabecca Hennessey was born in Fremont, Nebraska, and developed an artistic nature at a young age, under the influence of a red-haired German grandmother who showed her how to make marks on any kind of paper. After graduating with a Commercial Art degree from Studio Academy of Commercial Art in Omaha NE, she worked independently as a freelance graphic artist. Rabecca experimented in pastel, charcoal, and colored pencils, but developed an interest in oil painting and it has become her favorite medium.

Over the years she has attended workshops and classes to increase her skills as an artist. When Rabecca attended a plein air workshop, her passion for painting outdoors was ignited.

Two decades ago, Rabecca moved from Nebraska to Northeast Iowa along the beautiful Mississippi River to a small river town named Guttenberg. Founded by German immigrants, this town proudly features its original limestone buildings. The landscape and the people in it creates inspiration for many of her outdoor paintings.

When she's not behind a paintbrush, Rabecca spends time in her kayak with her camera and husband, plays with cooking skills and looks forward to time with her children and grandchildren in Nebraska.
