Step 1 - Place Holds
Use our online catalog or call to find items that are available and place them on hold. Limit 10 hold requests per library card. Hold requests for this service will be limited to books, audiobooks, DVDs, and magazines.
Ways to make hold requests:
Explore our materials in the online catalog and place a hold on any item you wish to receive.
Login using your library card number. The PIN is your 8 digit birthdate.
Call (515) 978-7944 and Library staff will place items on hold for you. Holds are filled in the order they are received.
Step 2 - Schedule Pickup
When your holds are ready you will be notified by email, text, or phone to schedule your pickup day and time.
Step 3 - Pickup Your Items
Pull up to the designated pick up area at the south side of the building and open your trunk. Due to weather or construction pickup locations could vary. Library staff will ask for your name or will identify your car from the reservation.
Help us by putting a piece of paper with your last name on your windshield.
Walk up/bike up pickups will be placed on the sidewalk.
All staff will wear protective equipment necessary to keep themselves, other staff, and the public safe.
All employees will wear face coverings, and the Library asks that patrons observe social distancing best practices.
The book drops on the south side of the library are now open. Returns can be made there at any time. Oversized items that do not fit in the book drop need to be returned during the curbside pickup hours of Monday-Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm. Items should be placed on the oversized returns cart located near the book drop. Staff will not accept returns during pickup. If you are only returning items and curbside is located the the front entrance, please reserve the parking spaces closest to the building for people using curbside pick-up. Returned items will be checked in after at least 4 days of quarantine.
