Helping Hands: Young Women's Resource Center Supply Drive

The Library is accepting supply donations for the Young Women's Resource Center (YWRC) this May.
YWRC is a non-profit organization that supports, educates, and advocates for girls and young women ages 10-24 throughout Greater Des Moines. Their unique structure features two branches of services — Empowerment and Young Moms — to better serve the members of our community throughout various stages of life. The YWRC'S goal is to help girls and young women become strong, self-confident, and successful — utilizing education and support to create a safe place where they experience acceptance, compassion, knowledge, and commitment. Needed items include (* denotes high-need items):
- *Diapers and Pull-Ups, all sizes
- *Baby bottles
- *Unscented baby wipes
- Menstrual (fragrance-free) pads with wings
- Deodorant
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Toothpaste
- Lip balm/chapstick
- Body lotion
- Baby formula
- Laundry detergent
They will accept but are not currently in need of:
- New teethers for babies
- Menstrual discs
- Tampons
- Pregnancy and nursing clothes

Please note: Travel-size personal care items, car seats, cribs or crib mattresses, stuffed animals, and damaged or defective clothing will not be accepted.
All donations can be dropped off at the Library's front desk.
