Summer Reading is for all ages!

Registration is open for the Tails & Tales 2021 Summer Reading Challenge!

 

Our summer reading challenge will look a little different this year as we do our part to keep everyone safe and healthy but it will be just as fun!

You can pick up reading logs, check out, and pick up prizes in person.

We will still have great programs that you can attend and activities you can do - all online!

Adventure through the Animal Kingdom this summer with the Waukee Public Library.

HOW IT WORKS:

 

KIDS

READ!  Read or have someone read to you for at least 15 minutes each day. The 15 minutes does not have to be read all at once. Books should be at, or above, your reading level. 
LOG!  Record the time you read on a paper reading log, online with Beanstack, or on the Beanstack Tracker app.
PRIZES!  After 15 days of reading, you will earn your choice of sidewalk chalk or a highlighter-pen and a free book. After 30 days of reading, you'll earn another free book. See prizes below!
All prizes are available while supplies last. Prizes will be available inside the library during Library Express hours. You may also schedule a curbside prize pick-up by calling the library at (515) 978-7944.
 

TEENS

READ!  It can be a book, audiobook, magazine, newspaper—whatever! Read for at least 15 minutes each day. The 15 minutes does not have to be read all at once.
LOG!  Record the time you read on a paper reading log, online with Beanstack, or on the Beanstack Tracker app.
PRIZES!  Each time you complete five days of reading, you earn an entry into the weekly prize drawing and into the grand prize drawing! 
After 15 days of reading, you'll earn your choice of earbuds or a highlighter-pen and a free book. After 30 days of reading, you'll earn another free book. See prizes below!
All prizes are available while supplies last. Prizes will be available inside the library during Library Express hours. You may also schedule a curbside prize pick-up by calling the library at (515) 978-7944.

PRIZES!  Every half hour that you read counts as one entry into the weekly and grand prize drawings. While supplies last, you'll get a limited edition summer reading tote when you turn in your first log (5 hours)! You can also get additional entries into the drawings by completing the optional activities. See prizes below!
Prizes will be available inside the Library during Library Express hours. You may also schedule a curbside prize pick-up, which may require advanced notice of one business day, by calling the library at (515) 978-7944.

Logging with Beanstack is easy! If you have previously created an account, simply log in and click ‘register’ on the program of your choice. Profiles can be added to your existing account at any time making it easy for families to log together.
NOTE: If you have PREVIOUSLY registered for an account, no need to register again! Simply log in and join the program of your choice!

First time Beanstack users: 

  1. Go to waukeelibrary.beanstack.org 
  2. You can register an individual for an account, or register an entire family by choosing another child or register another adult when prompted.
  3. Upon registration, each individual will receive their first badge and will be able to begin logging books and activities!
